Perfect, if just a little pricey
The Nespresso system is about as simple as coffee making gets - you turn on the device until it heats up (about 30 seconds), put the pod into the holder, press GO and in 20 seconds or so you have the perfect espresso shot. There are variety of pod blends available, and the machine is capable of producing a shot so smooth it would rival any professional coffee house.

My own real criticism is the price - this machine is expensive for something that essential boils and pumps water. But it is elegantly designed and has a small footprint and is guaranteed to become a conversation piece in your home or workplace. The second problem is that the pods themselves are expensive and can only be ordered directly from Nespresso. It's easy to create a 0-a-month coffee habit that's hard to justify in this economy, so I went back to my Mr Coffee maker after 3 months of Nespresso addiction.

But if you're in the market for pod-based espresso, I'd recommend this machine.

I love this machine!
I just bought the bundle of the C100 with the milk frother, and I love it! It is SO easy to use! No mess, no packing grounds, no skill needed, it is so quick and absolutely delicious. Ordering the coffee packs online is super easy and arrives in 2 business days. The machine came with a 12-pack of flavors, and I like every single one of them. One shot of espresso costs $.55 each, so if you are a Starbucks addict like I was, it pays for itself in less than 2 months. I'm so happy that I can make a cappucino or latte anytime I want, at home, in two minutes and not pay for it!

Super easy and great espresso
After bringing our first baby home from the hospital, I thought my husband would appreciate the convinence of having espresso and lattes at home. I wasn't sure if we would like having to use the capsules, but they are so easy to use and order that it doesn't matter at all. It's especially great that there's no messy coffee grounds all over the kitchen! This espresso machine is by far the easiest coffee machine ever. Plus, the finished product tastes great. It's very small so it's easy to keep out on the counter. My husband uses this at least twice a day, and we would recommend it to anyone who wants quick, easy espresso.

Great Espresso Machine
This is a great espresso machine; it's easy to use and easy to clean and makes really excellent espresso. The company has a wide enough variety of espresso pods with different tastes and strengths that there're probably several good choices for anyone. The machine itself is excellent, quick, quiet and again easy to use.

Nice esspresso every time
Tried this out (Cadillac unit) in England.... this is the basic unit, but inside the same except it does not froth milk and do all the extra stuff...it is just for espresso (or coffee).... tastes as good as the larger more expensive ones.......I've only had it a few months though and it is making lots of noise sometimes while brewing and is at times can be a little slower than usual...... having said that, overall it is the best out there especially for people who hate the mess of the grounds and cleanup, etc....it is as they say...it taste the same every time as the pods are vac-packed and it is so quick and easy....truly "plug and play".

Didn't work for me and had to return
Bad luck most likely. Didn't like how the ground coffee had such a long path into the filter - the grinds could be from a day or two ago (not "todays grind"). Unit had to be returned due to non functioning cup level control.

Capresso 454
This is my second Capresso 454, the first one lasted 8 years before the element gave out and it was leaking while brewing. I do note that the new one is improved from the old one and I do not foresee it leaking like the old one did. It also has a led light that remains on all the time unlike the old one that would go out while not in use. I do find that the new perforated papers work better than the non perfs do. Works great drinking coffee brewed this morn. right now.

Coffeeteam what I thought it would be.
Had it for about a month, have made coffee several times a day. Many of the reviews I've read have been confirmed:

--the coffee temp is not 180 in the glass carafe after brewing. This is not a big deal me. I'm sure if you used warmer water to brew with, the coffee temp would be in the 180s when finished (at least with a full pot).

--the grinder works great. I use Costco Kirkland Signature Starbucks coffee (both decaf and regular) and use the finest grind setting and have never had any clogging. I will note that about a pepper shake of coffee grinds end up on the countertop under the grinder after each brew...again not a big deal to me. This happens after grinding is finished and the filter basket shifts from the grinder to the pot.

--clean up really is a snap. Just a quick rinse under the faucet, only 3 parts! Having come from the Cuisinart brand like many others, this is fantastic.

--the carafe pouring problem people have complained about is only a problem if you pour too fast. Not a big deal to me.

--the digital display is very easy to use. I have had no problems with it so far. I hope it stays that way. I've read that the 454 is an improvement in this regard.

All in all I've been very pleased with this coffee maker. It is a really cool design and is easy to use. It didn't get 5 stars because I think that if you advertise 180 in the brew pot, it should be 180. Perhaps Capresso can add an extra 100 watts to the heating elements in future models.

Simply Better Then Any Unit From Cuisinart.
I have owned several units from Cuisinart, and this is superior. It gives you complete control over your brew size and strength, it is less noisy, and clean up is the same as a standard coffee maker. Cuisinart models are a pain to clean, and most of the ones I owned had problems with the grinding unit.

Great coffee, great service
This unit makes great coffee--ranging from one cup to ten. I especially appreciate its ability to automatically both slow the brewing process to make one to four cups of the proper intensity and to lower the hot plate temperature for such small volumes. You can even choose from three brewing temperatures.
Capresso is still working out problems with the clock display but I've found service to be completely hassle-free.
I highly recommend this machine and Capresso.

A serious coffee maker
I wish I had purchased this one a long time ago.

Far better than the Braun, Krups and Cuisinarts that I had previously used. The coffee is both rich and smooth.

I tested the unit with plain water before brewing coffee and I just want to quickly address 2 criticisms.

Overflowing - Only if you overfill it! Do you try to put 15 gallons of gas in your car's 14.5 gallon tank? This is a 10 cup coffee maker and the gauge on mine is dead on accurate.

Difficult to align the carafe - I haven't tried this while totally drunk but otherwise I don't see how you can screw it up.

If you appreciate exceptional drip coffee (and you want a timer for early mornings) this is the product to buy.

Forget the complaints, It's lovely.
I just don't understand all the negative reviews. This machine is a beauty. Coffee comes out scalding hot and amazingly smooth compared to any other machine we've had. Very nicely designed and constructed with easy to use features. As for the carafe, it's has kept our coffee drinkably hot for hours. The only complaint I can agree with is that it pours slowly. Boo hoo. I've had it for months now and it's never leaked, never clogged, never overflowed. Then again, I've never filled it past the 'max' mark either....

10-cup coffeemaker
This is a great product. It keeps the coffee hot for hours and you don't get the "burned" coffee taste as it has not been on the heat; It cleans up really well after use. The only thing is I wish it held a little more coffee. But it brews the next pot quickly.

The Best
All of us imagine the perfect coffee maker, but this is the only one that comes close. The necessary carafe and the appearance if you have a stainless steel kitchen.

The design is perfect. My wife and I purchased an extra carafe ... she's on half-caf ... I'm on full-caf.

Any negs you hear about the carafe not keeping the heat are nonsense ... I get my four oversized cups-in-the-morning and they're all perfect over a two-hour period ... good enough for me.

We have no regrets ... the best coffee maker on the planet. The priority is taste and this machine delivers!

Excellent Upgrade From Old Capresso Model 471
Our new Capresso MT550Plus was an unplanned replacement for a much-used 471 "breakfast coffee-maker" that went belly-up a few days ago. After one morning of use, the MT550 has shown itself to be an excellent upgrade.

We are fussy about our morning coffee. Between my wife and myself we drink six cups in two separate sittings. We can't stand the taste alterations of coffee that's warmed on a hotplate after brewing -- hence the desire for a carafe-based unit. We are also fussy about our bean blends and brewing -- hence the desire for a quick and hot-brewing unit.

Having used the 471 for something like six years, we are aware of the need to center a Capresso carafe "ball" under the brew spigot, so we don't expect any problems with this aspect of the design. Three uses of the MT500 so far (two "trials" and one "for real") and no dribbles.

Drawbacks? The 471 had bigger "elephant ears" on the carafe lid, making it easier to open by someone with short fingers. I suppose the proprietary charcoal filter would be expensive, but as we pre-filter all our drinking water, we'll just not bother. Nice touches? The cord storage receptacle; the 3-5 cup mode; the placement and operation of the controls (compared to the 471).

Yes, the MT500 is not cheap, but if you demand well-brewed daytime coffee, the unit is an excellent choice.

Our nightime espresso and latte brewer is a large Kitchenaid unit. It brews well, but based on our Capresso experience, and the positive experiences of friends, we are considering a high-end Capresso.
